The Oakland Community Theater is funded in part by the annual Oakland Car Show & Shine. All proceeds from this show offset the costs of the summer melodrama productions presented each year since 2001.

The Community Theater’s mission is to improve the quality of life in Oakland by offering an opportunity for all members of the community to participate in vintage theater. The group is particularly proud of encouraging youth to take part in these productions as actors and behind-the-scenes technicians. Annual monetary gifts are made to various groups as well to local high school drama classes to enhance their productions.
